I closed my eyes and made swirls with my pen. After I had colored in the sections, I decided it looked like waves on the river. It's interesting that the pale pink swath at the top is not white because that is the plain paper. I think the table lamp makes it pink. I hate that. If I wanted pink, I would paint pink.
I wrote to artist Jennifer Lawson and asked how she got such great splashes of color in her paintings. Mine are still not as juicy as hers but I love the colors here. This is my adaptation of a painting she posted on her blog.
